We went on a boat trip to look out for dugongs. We had heard about these trips in a Swedish newspaper, and we knew that we could not take it for granted that we should actually see any, so our expectations were not that high. Our guide took us on a very quiet ride and suddenly, after only about 20 minutes he shouted and pointed out our first dugong. We saw a grey nose above the water. The dugong took a quick breath and disappeared again, about 30 metres away from the boat.
About one hour later w ehad another clear sighting of a dugong only about 15-20 m from the boat. In between we saw several signs of the dugongs, like rings on the water surface.
When we passed the southern tip of Koh Libong, we had a magnificent experience as we saw a school of pink dolphins passing very close to our boat (maybe 10 m) and we followed them for a while.
We thoroughly enjoyed this excursion and we highly recommend it!
